The church, by Dumfries Railway Station, will be open for a short Christmas Day service, at 11 am, followed by a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, from 1 pm.
Pastor Mark Smith said: “Anyone and everyone is welcome on Christmas Day. It’s the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ – God’s son; our Saviour. We want to share the joy and reach out to those who don’t find Christmas nice, by inviting them to enjoy the day free from worry, in the warmth of others and with a lovely meal.
“We’re incredibly grateful to all those who give their time freely to serve others on this special day, not just at River of Life, but in other similar initiatives around our town. We’re also very thankful to the Lions Club and others who generously give to enable us to provide this day free of charge.
“There’s no need to book; just come along and enjoy the day, either at the 11 am service or just for the meal at 1 pm.”
In addition, on Christmas Eve the church’s regular surplus food project, The Pantry, will be open for a bumper Christmas food give-away from 7 pm at the Church.
Mark said: “Aldi, M&S, Tesco and Lidl will all be giving us stock they didn’t manage to sell before the holidays, so we can give it to anyone who needs it.
“We don’t want any of this great food to go to waste, so please come and make use of it.
“Merry Christmas everyone!”
