EXCITEMENT is growing at Lochmaben Golf Club ahead of a £10,000 prize draw tonight.
It’s part of the club’s fundraising push to get their clubhouse refurbished ahead of their centenary in 2026.
And it’s raised £10,000 towards that, as well as offering a massive £10,000 prize to one lucky winner.
That person will be chosen in a ‘diamond draw’ taking place live this evening.
It was the idea of club captain Dr John Smith and all the 1000 available tickets sold out months ago.
The organisers have been overwhelmed with the support shown by members and the wider community for what they believe is the biggest ever prize draw of its kind in Dumfries and Galloway.
Meanwhile, the club is also running a crowdfunding campaign on JustGiving, with a target of £50,000.
Writing on their page, the club committee said: “We are not just a golf club; we are a cherished institution, a haven of sportmanship, and a community united by the love for the game.
“Our mission is simple but profound: to transform our clubhouse into a space that’s not just rejuvenated but elevated to new heights. At the heart of our vision lies a breathtaking addition: a beautiful, welcoming balcony that will make our clubhouse truly exceptional.
“Imagine stepping out onto a stunning balcony that offers panoramic views of our course and Kirk Loch.”
They hope it will breathe new life into the premises and help keep the club going long into the future.
