FORTIETH birthday celebrations were in order for the South West Scotland Horse Driving Club at their latest carriage driving event.
It took place at Low Kirkbride Farm, Auldgirth last weekend.
And as the Club is celebrating its 40th year, along with the usual decorations on the obstacles there was a big 40 on the water obstacle.
First event was the dressage, judged by Janette Watson, of Borgue, herself a keen carriage driver with horse Dollar.
Her winner of the best dressage was Ellen Dodd from Shap with Topper, Carl Bevan’s lovely Welsh cob.
Next up was the cones: Lyndsey Patterson had designed the course and with the land being undulating so was the cones course, which made it most enjoyable to watch and produced some knockdowns.
Fastest through with no knockdowns, and therefore the winner, was Kerry Halliday with her super wee Shetland, Bruce.
The Cones Challenge was won by Caroline Gardette driving Debbie Findlay’s pony Wizard. The Cones Challenge has an optimum time, Caroline was clear and nearly spot on the time.
Sunday was the 11 km marathon, with a shorter route on offer too.
Marathon winner was Carol Black, above, driving Pat Gillan’s Tommy: they were on fire and zoomed through the five obstacles at a great pace, with no blanks.
