A POP up charity shop will open in Dumfries next week.
The Rotary Club of Dumfries Devorgilla will be opening the store in the Loreburne Centre.
From Wednesday, November 18 to Saturday, November 21, volunteers will staff the store, which will sell a range of second-hand and new items including records, dvds, books, posters and computer games.
The club’s service and environment convenor Charles Milroy said: “It has been a difficult and unusual time for many people locally and the Pop–Up will be a great way to raise money with ever purchase made going to local charities and youth organisations including Cash for Kids.
“We are therefore delighted to have been given this empty property by the Loreburne Centre in a prime location and hope we can provide a significant benefit to local causes in these exceptional times.”
Rotary president Tom Florey added: “We hope to encourage shopping locally and emphasise the importance of supporting our local businesses and shops. We are really looking forward to working with the Loreburne Centre and show the importance of community spirit, encouraging people to come out and support their town centre during times local businesses have been struggling.”
Donations of items are being welcomed and should be dropped off at the shop opposite Marks and Spencer in the centre from November 16 to 17, just prior to its launch.
All proceeds will be donated to charity.
