Cluster staff get together for learning goals

EXPLORING innovation was the theme of the Annan Academy Cluster Schools learning festival

It brought together teachers from various schools in the area to celebrate education and explore innovation within curriculum design.

The speakers were Andrew Howie from Tree of Knowledge, followed by Ollie Bray from Education Scotland. He provoked participants to consider what changes are needed to make the curriculum relevant and appealing to all children and young people and specifically, in the Annan cluster.

A variety of workshops also took place, featuring Lego, Scottish Book Trust, Active Schools, Digital Schools, Education Scotland and Mossburn Farm.

Sarah Graham, head teacher of Eastriggs Primary and chair of Annan Cluster said: “We are thrilled to have successfully delivered our first Annan Academy Cluster Learning Festival. It was a really positive day which allowed all staff to engage across sectors and learn from each other.

“Tree of Knowledge inspired us to work together as a cluster and embrace change, a message which was reinforced by Ollie Bray from Education Scotland in the afternoon.

“We are at the beginning of an exciting curriculum innovation journey as a cluster, and will strive to work together to empower our amazing young people and the communities we serve.”
