Coastal flood warning issued for Dumfries and Galloway

A FLOOD alert has been issued for coastal areas of Dumfries and Galloway due to high tides and a forecast of wind and rain.

On Monday evening through into Thursday high tides will affect the area, which may be accompanied by some higher waves on occasion.

Low lying coastal land and roads may experience some minor flooding and some limited spray and wave overtopping.

The situation is being monitored by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), who are advising people to remain vigilant.

A SEPA spokesman said: “Remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.

“The flood alert is now in force until further notice.”
