College and Gretna Green ‘tie the knot’

DUMFRIES and Galloway College (DGC) is tying the knot with a new partner to provide work placements for students.

They are teaming up with Gretna Green to give hospitality students an

opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the world-famous visitor attraction during a four-week placement as part of their course.

Focusing on developing front-of-house skills two days per week, students will work in the food, beverage and catering areas across Gretna Green and have a chance to help staff in hotel restaurants and the retail food court.

Isabel Rhodes, chief executive of Gretna Green, said: “We’re delighted to work with Dumfries and Galloway College to offer hospitality students work experience at Gretna Green.

“We look forward to welcoming the students as colleagues of Gretna Green with the opportunity to learn their trade in our first-class food, beverage and catering settings; to interact with our visitors and guests and ultimately to experience what it’s like to deliver an exceptional customer service.

“It’s a great new partnership for our region.”

DGC principal Joanna Campbell added: “Dumfries and Galloway College wishes to thank Gretna Green for giving our learners such a wonderful work placement opportunity.”
