ANNAN Athletic kept their League One safety bid alive and kicking last Saturday after they came from behind to beat Kelty Hearts 2-1 at Galabank.
The away side got off to a quick start in the miserable conditions. And they impressively opened the scoring on 25 minutes.
After passing the ball around with pace and purpose, Liam Brown picked it up to the centre of the goal, well outside the box. He sold a dummy to two Athletic players before composing himself to curl the ball into the bottom right corner.
Before the end of the half the home side had a great chance to net an equaliser. But Tommy Muir headed just wide of the upright.
With 15 minutes remaining Max Kilsby volleyed home at the back post after getting on the end of a Gibson corner to level for the home side.
Five minutes later, with a spring in their step, the hosts had taken the lead, from another corner kick. Much the same as their first goal, it was Gibson’s floated delivery to Kilsby. Only this time the full back played the ball back across goal for Ross who was perfectly positioned to knock home from two yards out.
Although still in the relegation play-off spot, victory moves Annan level on points with Inverness and within four points of the Maroon Machine.
