The region’s biggest winter festival returns in January, with Bill Bailey making his festival debut in the Spiegeltent.
Executive Producer Graham Main of the Electric Theatre Workshop which produces the festival said: “We are really making a big deal about the return of the Spiegeltent and we have been carefully choosing shows and events that remind our audience why they love it so much.
“Artists like Camille O`Sullivan and Bill Bailey playing in a Spiegeltent help to position the festival as a place where you can experience intimate performances.”
With musical virtuosity, surreal tangents and trademark intelligence, Bill Bailey tackles politics, philosophy and the pursuit of happiness in the show.
Meanwhile, five star award-winning musician Camille O’Sullivan makes her return to the festival, having recently been included in Jools Hollands Top 25 live performances of all time by The Telegraph newspaper.
And one of Scotland’s most celebrated musicians, Dougie Maclean, will be presenting a solo performance.
Set to perform at the festival for the first time, and continuing its strong Irish connections, We Banjo 3 are said to be the pioneers of the Celt Grass movement which is a combination of Celtic folk music with the American blue grass style.
Big Burns Supper festival will take place between January 18 and 28, and the full programme including the new Dumfries Fringe Festival programme and all the events taking place will be announced on November
