THREE new community councillors were installed at the Moffat and District Community Council meeting on Tuesday night.
Moffat Academy pupils Ewan Bain,16 and Andrew Carlton,17, were officially appointed to the group by Dumfries and Galloway Council co-leader Stephen Thompson.
In addition, community campaigner Mick Barker also became a co-opted member following a nomination from long-term member Leys Geddes.
The new community councillors were put straight to work as the meeting was a three pronged event consisting of an Extraordinary General meeting (EGM), an Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the regular monthly meeting.
Meanwhile, Leys Geddes has stepped down as chair, with Liam O’Neill stepping into the role.
Speaking about the three new members, Mr O’Neill said: “Welcome to our new members, who are outstanding in their youth compared to the rest of us.
“We are very pleased to have younger people taking an interest and are so grateful that you’ve come forward. You’re all very welcome and we look forward to seeing what ideas you bring to the table.”
