Speaking at a meeting of the Dumfries and Galloway Community Planning Partnership this afternoon, NHS Dumfries and Galloway chief executive Jeff Ace said they were testing and tracing the nine positive cases which are broadly confined to two or three family groups.
He said two of the nine cases had been picked up by a mobile Covid-19 testing centre in Carlisle and that each of the individuals had been made aware of what they need to do.
Mr Ace said more information about this outbreak will be released later today.
