Crack down on illegal motor bikes

POLICE community officers are cracking down on the increase of illegal use of off road motor bikes in Dumfries.

Members of the public have raised their concerns about the bikes.

On Wednesday night, officers were on patrol at Lochside Road when two motorbikes made off.

A police spokesman added: “The bikes were not road legal, had no lights, the drivers had no protective equipment and were putting themselves and other road users at risk.

“They thought that they had got away from us but unfortunately for them we located their bikes hidden in bushes.

“Whilst we haven’t identified the drivers at this time we have denied them the use of their bikes.

“We will continue to carry out patrols to deter those who put others at risk through the illegal use of these bikes on our roads and cycle paths.”
