Crash victim named

A 57-year-old woman who died in a fatal collision on Wednesday afternoon has been named as Margaret McClelland from Creetown.

Officers are still appealing for witnesses to the A75 crash, which took place at about 2.40 pm near to Palnure, Newton Stewart.  

A silver coloured Toyota Aygo car being driven by the 57-year-old was in collision with a white coloured Volvo articulated lorry being driven by a 54-year-man from Garlieston.  

Mrs McClelland was was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured and an 18-year-old female passenger in the lorry was taken to Galloway Community Hospital to be checked over.  

She was later released.  

The road was closed and a full crash scene investigation was carried out.

Constable Caillie Douce of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Enquiries into the cause of this collision are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed it to call us on the 101 number quoting the reference number 2135 2/10.  

“Anyone who may have captured this collision on a dash-cam is also asked to call this number.”
