AN APPEAL is being made to local volunteers to consider setting up a Cycling Without Age group in Dumfries and Galloway.
South Scotland MSP Colin Smyth is hugely impressed with the work already being carried out by Cycling Without Age Scotland and believes a group in this region would be a big benefit to many people.
The charity’s core aim is to enhance and enrich lives by giving elderly and disabled people access to the beautiful outdoors through pioneering trishaw rides.
They maintain the highest and robust standards of safety in all operations, fully complying with the requirements of the Scottish Care Inspectorate.
Colin Smyth said: “It was great to meet with Cycling Without Age organisers and volunteers in the Scottish Parliament and to learn more about the fantastic work they are doing in their 61 branches across Scotland.
“The groups are a real lifeline to so many people and I believe my constituents in Dumfries and Galloway, which is one of the few regions without a group so far, would really benefit.
“While we are all living busy lives, I would urge anyone with an interest in setting up a group locally to get in touch with the charity and learn more.”
