Cyclist shot is top summer snap

THIS image of a cyclist snapped from above won Dumfries Camera Club’s summer photographic competition.

It was taken at the recent paracycling event by Frank Roscoe and the unusual angle caught the judges’ eye and they described it as ‘stunning’.

He wins a year’s subscription to the club.

Second place went to Malcolm Williams for ‘Kirkcudbright on a Lazy Sunday Afternoon’; and joint third was shared by Heather Wilson with ‘Trogir’ and Pamela Stirling with ‘Willow at Stroan.

Dumfries Camera Club would like to thank all of the entrants who submitted such a variety of photographs into their contest.

Their autumn/winter season is now underway, with meetings held at the Gracefield Arts Centre on Wednesday nights from 7.30 pm.

Already they have welcomed as speakers Scottish landscape photographer Dylan Nardini and street photographer Tom Langlands, as well as an insight into the Falklands courtesy of president Jean Robson.

Coming up there is a full syllabus of speakers and judges, including fine art photography, art and photography, wildlife, studio and portrait photography.

Visitors are welcome, as are new members.
