Cyclists brave the heat for tribute race

KEEN cyclists braved the heat of the weekend for the annual Lamburn Loop.

The 30 mile cycle route, which was in three races, was held in the Hoddom area in memory of two local cyclists, Alan Lamont of Eaglesfield and Brian Wellburn of Annan.

Organisers Fechan Flyers Cycle Club welcomed riders from all around Dumfries and Galloway, as well as the Central Belt, with all battling to claim victory.

Speaking on behalf of the Flyers, Micky Warbeck said: “The day started off well with the weather and the spon- sors were great, Hoddom Castle did a great spread, we can’t thank all the sponsors enough.”

“From where we’ve come in such a short time, it is great to see an event so well sup- ported and enjoyed.

“Everyone had a great time and the other road users gave us plenty of space and time.”
