The father, aged 27, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Tuesday to the charge, alleged to have taken place in March last year.
Trial has been set for April 25.

The DAD of a two-year-old boy has been accused in court at Dumfries of taking substances and failing to properly supervise the youngster - resulting in his attempting to walk on a busy road.
