Lockerbie dad-of-three Michael Bamforth will dye his beard a colourful shade on Saturday to raise money for the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).
The NHS worker has been an avid charity fundraiser for years.
From fundraising abseils to rock climbs and cash boosting canoe trips, he’s done them all to help raise money for charities.
But due to a back condition, the 40-year-old has chosen to slow down with physical fundraisers and opted to dye his beard a bright colour to raise money for a charity close to his family’s hearts.
Wife Sarah said: “He looked into mental health charities as I have a mental health condition and he’s been amazed and grateful for the excellent standard of treatment in the area.
“The support offered included him and he wanted to give something back. SAMH is an excellent charity that covers Scotland and provides much needed services to those in need.
“Sir Chris Hoy is their spokesperson and as Michael was a keen cyclist and still follows the Tour de France and Track Cycling (albeit on TV) – that also brought the charity to his attention.”
She added: “He’s hoping to raise as much as possible – he’d love to raise £500 at least and hopefully help raise awareness as well.”
Michael will pay a visit to Lockerbie beauty spot Beauty by Sands on Saturday and let owner and stylist Sandra Odoh loose on his beard, even allowing her to pick his new beard shade.
