Debut show for local art group

GRETNA Art Group will be holding their first ever art exhibition at the Richard Greenhow Centre on August 27 and 28.

There will be a range of paintings in different mediums on display for visitors to view, alongside collages, embroidery and pottery, and refreshments will also be available at the centre’s coffee shop.

The art group meet weekly at the centre. Barbara Orme, a long-standing member since 2005, said: “We are a happy, sociable band of friends.”

Fellow member Joyce Fisher continued: “I moved to Gretna in 2009 knowing no-one, so I joined the group as I had a keen interest in art.

“I’ve never regretted it, as everyone is free to follow their own preferences in the choice of materials and subject matter.”

And member Sheena Little added: “I love the happy atmosphere and how everyone is so supportive and creative of our various endeavours.”

Gretna Art Group is excited to hold their first exhibition and offer a warm welcome to anyone interested in visiting the centre at the end of the month.
