Dog attack

A TERRIER required emergency surgery after being attacked at Eskrigg Nature Reserve in Lockerbie on Sunday afternoon.

Police have revealed that at about 2.15 pm, the small dog was savaged by a husky-type dog which was not on a lead.

The man in charge of the offending animal then acted in a threatening manner towards the owner of the injured dog.

Officers have appealed for information and urge any witnesses to come forward in a bid to identify the suspect, who is believed to have travelled to the area in a silver Volvo estate car.

And a force spokesman said: “We would like to remind dog owners of the importance of keeping their pets under control.”

Anyone with any information regarding the incident should contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2461 of January 17.
