THE return to school was staggered this week as teachers staged another strike, closing classrooms locally.
Secondary school pupils returned after the Christmas break on Tuesday. However, all primary pupils in Dumfries and Galloway were off due to industrial action by members off the EIS and AHDS.
And then it was the turn of the older students to stay at home on Wednesday as SSTA and EIS members took to the picket lines.
But the younger children were at their desks. And there’s more disruption to come later this month with EIS and AHDS revealing plans for another strike on Monday January 23.
Dumfries and Galloway Council education officials say it is likely that all schools will close as a result on that day.
There will also be disruption to secondary prelim exams as a consequence.
