Dressed up duo sought by police

TWO women dressed for a night out are being sought by police in connection with an attempted housebreaking in the town last night.

A pair of females carrying handbags were disturbed trying to break into a property in Watling Street via a window at about 4 am this morning. A second house in the street was also targeted shortly after and again the two women were disturbed by the home owner.
Police officers in Dumfries are carrying out enquiries and have released descriptions of the pair.
They are both said to be of stocky build and aged late 20s to early 30s. One was wearing a knee length black jacket and black trousers and the other was wearing a knee length white jacket and black trousers.
Constable John MacBeth said: “We will be reviewing the town centre CCTV as unusually the descriptions of the woman suggest they may have been dressed for a night out on the town, rather than the typical clothing worn by those who may have been out to commit crime.”
Anyone who can identify the duo are asked to call police on 101.
