A NEW survey reveals there have been an average of 410 monthly searches regarding the term “driving anxiety” in Dumfries in the past month.
RTA Law surveyed people across Scotland in its latest study and found that Stirling is the anxious driving capital of Scotland, with Dumfries trailing behind. The data comes from searching one of the 450 trigger terms related to anxiety behind the wheel.
“Driving anxiety is more common than many people realise, affecting both new and experienced drivers alike…It can make even short journeys feel overwhelming, but the good news is that it’s entirely manageable with the right approach,” said Rod Mitchel, a researcher from the RTA Law survey.
Rod continues that taking precautions, no matter how small, can ease the anxiety people may feel.
RTA has also issued suggestions such as driving with a friend, starting with short drives, driving at quiet times, using calming techniques, and knowing your responsibilities as a driver.
By taking these steps, RTA Law believes it can calm some nerves before starting the next adventure.
