Drop in jobseeker numbers

THE latest figures for people seeking work in Dumfries and Galloway show a drop by 1596 to 3449.

The Jobcentre service reports the region has the best “into work” results across South West Scotland over the past two months.

And in the new year the Jobcentre and its Kickstart programme will be concentrating on recruiting for the key industries in care, hospitality and food sectors.

A jobs fair is scheduled to be held at The Bridge in Dumfries in February. The date will be announced.

Virtual fairs are held on social media at Twitter. Use the handle @JCPinSWScot for further details.
