POLICE  have seized drugs worth an estimated street value of £125,400 near Moffat.

POLICE  have seized drugs worth an estimated street value of £125,400 near Moffat.

Officers discovered the cannabis shipment at around 11.25 am yesterday after stopping a Fiat Ducato car transporter, which was carrying a Ford Focus, on the M74 northbound carriageway near to Middlegill.

Following a search of both vehicles, herbal cannabis, estimated to be worth around £125,400, was found.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the recovery.

He is due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court today and  report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Lloyd Caven said: “Recoveries such as this highlight our determination to protect the public from this type of harmful criminality.
“It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.
“We will use every tool and tactic at our disposal to prevent the sale and distribution of illegal drugs in our local communities.
