Duke of Edinburgh opportunity

YOUNG people are being invited to complete their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold residential section at the 2025 Youth Beatz Festival in Dumfries.

The residential opportunity is open to those aged 16 and over currently working towards their Gold Award. Youth Beatz 2025 will be held on June 28-29 at Park Farm Showground, Dumfries.

Participants will join the Youth Work team in building, delivering, and taking down the festival, gaining hands-on experience while supporting Scotland’s largest free youth music event. The programme aims to open up people to new experiences while simultaneously preparing them for life with applicable skills.

“The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award provides young people with fantastic opportunities to broaden their horizons, learn new skills, and to take part in valuable volunteering opportunities. We are excited to be welcoming young people from Dumfries and Galloway and from across Scotland to take part in this great residential delivered in partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Scotland,” said Councillor Maureen Johnstone, chair of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Education, Skills and Community Wellbeing Committee.

The residential will run from Wednesday 25 June to Tuesday 1 July. It is free for young people living in Dumfries and Galloway, and costs £125 for those from outside the region.

Those interested in participating can apply by Friday 2 May on the Youth Beatz website.
