Dumfries debt issues

DEBT continues to be a significant issue for people seeking advice from Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service.

The end of December saw debt advisers help more than 700 people with debts amounting to a staggering £9 million.
Chief Executive of D&G CAS Sue Irving said: “The end of January can be a difficult time for some people when the post-Christmas bills start to arrive and for many it has been a long time since their last payday.
“Budgeting is important at all times but it is essential at this time of year if Christmas overspending is causing problems. We see so many people whose lives are made a misery because of out of control spending and we want to help people in our region tackle those debts in 2016.”
