WORK to construct new properties in Annan is expected to begin early next year.
Wheatley Homes South has now set out plans to redevelop five sites across the town.
It follows the demolition of several blocks of flats, including properties at Springbells, Esk Place, Eden Place, Fernlea Crescent, Hillview and Shawhill Road.
Planning proposals have been put forward and, so far, permission has been granted conditionally for the erection of four houses at Eden Place.
When more permissions are received, Wheatley will seek to meet with Annan Community Council and host engagement events.
In regard to old sandstone cottages at Springbells, adjacent to Hospital Road, it is understood that engagement is continuing between Wheatley, Dumfries and Galloway Council and the Scottish Government on the future of this site.
A Wheatley Homes spokesperson said: “The regeneration of Annan is part of our ambitious programme to modernise homes and improve communities across the whole of Dumfries and Galloway.
“Our investment programme also includes spending £39m in improving our existing homes, of which £10.9m will be invested in properties and communities in Annandale.
“Once planning permission is received for the regeneration, we will hold a series of community engagement events. Work is expected to start in early 2026, with families able to move into the new homes in late summer 2027.”
