The RAW group (Restoring Annan’s Water) are looking for monitors for the Milnbie Caul area near Annan.
They will be required to watch, photograph and report eels using the newly installed eel pass.
In 2017-19 RAW helped several primary schools raise eels in the classroom and negotiated with Chapelcross, Scottish Water and the Nuclear Decomissioning Authority to ease the passage of migrating eels up the Annan Water.
The eels were re introduced by the children into the river and it is hoped that once again they will be seen in the upstream of Annan following the installation of an eel pass finally this week.
RAW chairman Peter Dreghorn said: “In Restoring the Annan Water to its natural state, it is RAW’s intention to facilitate the removal of the Caul from the river.
“In the meantime, it is requesting that observation of the eel pass is carried out and data collected of the numbers and frequency of migrating eels. Either observation of eels on the pass or above the Caul will be very useful to future restoration plans.”
