Elaine’s Xmas hats are in demand

HAVING come through a gruelling year of treatment for ovarian cancer, Elaine Lamb is now doing her bit to support research into the condition in the hope that better treatments and a cure can be found.

With knitting needles at the ready, Elaine is currently busy knitting ‘Christmas Hats’ for chocolate oranges and selling them to friends and family in the run up to Christmas.

She is supported by Fiona Jamieson, Maggie Freeman and Val Muir, who are also knitting and donating chocolate oranges for the cause, along with Edward Chadfield with his donations of Christmas crafts.

Elaine, who is from Annan, said: “I am so grateful to the medical team at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh who looked after me, as well as the chemotherapy team at Dumfries Infirmary and my local GP.

“Without their care and expertise, I wouldn’t be feeling as well as I do this Christmas. This effort of raising funds for ovarian cancer research is the least I can do to help others who may be diagnosed in the future.”

Fiona Jamieson said: “Elaine has been so brave dealing with her cancer diagnosis and treatment.

“Last Christmas, Elaine was very ill so it’s great to see her looking well and getting involved with the fundraising this year. Last year a cheque for £800 was donated to the Ovarian Research Project at the Western General Hospital so we’re hoping we can raise similar this year.”

Elaine and her team of fundraisers are grateful to friends, family and colleagues who have ordered their Christmas chocolate oranges and appreciate all donations given so far. Thanks are also expressed to Tesco Annan for their generous donation towards chocolate oranges.
