Tories hold DCT ... SNP gain D&G

DUMFRIESSHIRE Clydesdale Tweedale (DCT) bucked the Scottish trend to return a Tory MP for a third term in office. David Mundell narrowly beat off competition from the SNP's Emma Harper to retain his seat.

But the Nationalist vote was stronger in the neighbouring Dumfries and Galloway (D&G) seat, where Labour’s Russell Brown was shunted to third and the winner was Richard Arkless for the SNP, followed by the Tories in second.
