Dumfriesshire politicians David and Oliver Mundell are calling for such an assurance from the Scottish Government.
Exams have faced serious disruption over the past two years as a result of the covid pandemic and the MP and MSP are seeking confirmation that pupils won’t ensure a third year of exam chaos.
Oliver Mundell MSP said: “The Scottish Education Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said on Sunday that a decision on cancelling exams may not be made until the end of March. That’s just not good enough and we need a guarantee that every pupil will be able to sit their exams this year as planned.
“Parents and pupils are already making their voices heard that another year of exam chaos is unthinkable after the disaster we’ve seen over the last two years.”
David Mundell MP added: “Pupils, parents and teachers cannot be left in the dark until the end of March. After years of upheaval and uncertainty, Scotland’s young people deserve a return to a normal school experience.
“Pupils’ education cannot continue to be disrupted by cancelling exams year after year.”
