Factory confirms covid cases

THREE workers at a food factory in the region have tested positive for coronavirus.

Brown’s Manufacturing Ltd in Kelloholm today released a statement revealing that over the last two weeks they had identified three Covid cases among their 600 strong workforce.

Bosses say the discovery has prompted a quick response to identify and address any risk.

And a mobile testing unit will be on site on Thursday and Friday for staff to access.

Managing director Lee Godfrey said: “We have been working closely with the Dumfries and Galloway Public Health Team following identification of cases as part of the widespread testing activity currently taking place across Scotland.

“Dumfries and Galloway’s Public Health Team have been helping with arrangements for testing, while the Test and Protect team carry out their role of identifying any close contacts to reduce the possibility of onward transmission.”

A spokesman for NHS Dumfries and Galloway added: “We are currently experiencing cases of COVID across all four localities in the region, and with an increase in case numbers across Scotland as a whole.

“We will continue to work with Browns and will provide any updates as and if required.”
