Family firm in finals

A LOCKERBIE construction company has been shortlisted for a national entrepreneurial award.

Robinsons have made the regional shortlist in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in the Scale-Up Entrepreneurs of the Year category.
Over 1000 businesses entered the contest and the Broomhouses based family firm beat off stiff competition to secure their finals spot.
Managing director Ryan Brown said: “Being shortlisted for this award has been a great achievement for us.
“We were delighted, especially with the calibre of nominees this year; the awards are a great initiative to promote entrepreneurial spirit in Scotland and the UK to the wider audience and provide a great opportunity to network with likeminded individuals.
“Being shortlisted for these awards is testament to the hard work of our entire team through the current climate and our sheer determination to succeed.”
He added: “We would like to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the years to reach our goals and grow our business. We look forward to what the future holds with our ambitious expansion plans.”
Ryan and his dad Jim, pictured above, are now looking forward to the regional gala final in Edinburgh on November 9.
The awards are supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland and past winners include David Buttress of Just Eat, Julie Deane of The Cambridge Satchel Company, James Watt of BrewDog and Alexander Solomou of TheLADBible Group.
Gordon Merrylees, head of entrepreneurship at Royal Bank of Scotland said: “I want to thank all of the entrepreneurs who entered this year and congratulate those who have been shortlisted, I look forward to seeing them at the regional finals.”
