Fatal crash closes A75

A MAN has died following a crash on the A75 earlier this morning (Fri).

The 32-year-old was the driver of a silver Ford Mondeo, which was in collision with a white Scania HGV near Springholm.

It happened at about 1.15 am and emergency services rushed to the scene but the man was pronounced dead there. He has not yet been identified.

Meanwhile, the driver of the HGV, a 57-year-old man, was taken to Galloway Royal Infirmary as a precaution.

The road is currently closed to allow for investigations to take place and it’s expected to remain closed until this evening.

Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch. Likewise, if you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then make contact with officers.”

Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0209 of 20 September.
