NEWTON Stewart’s hopes of the lifting the South of Scotland League were brought to an end on Saturday as Lochar Thistle defeated Creetown 3-0 to clinch the championship.
However, the Creesiders will still have the chance to lift some silverware after progressing to the final of the SCFA Challenge Cup.
They defeated Upper Annandale 3-0 at New King Edward Park, Lockerbie, in the semi final at the weekend.
Robert Middleton, Aaron Drysdale and Craig McCulloch scored the goals for the away team.
They are back in action tonight at Blairmount Park in the semi final of the Potts Cup, entertaining South League winners Lochar Thistle.
Kick off is at 7.30 pm.
