Fired up for gala run

TWO senior firefighters put their best feet forward for good causes this week.

Station commanders Claire McNay and Lucy Donaldson took part in the Moffat Gala 15k run on Tuesday night.

It was a damp and chilly night but the weather didn’t put off the intrepid pair and they raised £1061 for their chosen charities – the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Family Support Trust and Dumfries and Galloway Sands.

Both thanked all the race organisers, marshalls and volunteers, as well as everyone who donated and supported them. The duo said: “We took on this personal challenge in order to raise awareness of the good work the charities do in our region and hopefully some money to help them continue to do so.

“We have chosen two charities which focus on family support and assistance, that have been there for our personnel and their loved ones.”
