First shot, first goal!
I'VE ARRIVED . . . Jordan Allan celebrates his winner

STRIKER Jordan Allan admits he’s got his Queen of the South career off to a perfect start.

The on-loan Falkirk forward scored with his first shot in a Queens jersey and it proved to be the winner in a terrific 3-2 victory over Inverness.

And the strike was welcomed as Allan quickly got the goalscoring monkey off his back.

He said: “I’m delighted with how I’ve started my time here, especially with my first shot on target going in.

“You can’t ask for a better start and to get the monkey off my back nice and early.

“That’s massive for a striker, you don’t want to go two or three games not scoring. I’m delighted it’s gone in.

“I was itching to get on as I could see there was room to run in behind.

“I made the run and Brennan Dickenson found me and all I had to do was finish it off and thankfully I did.

WINNER . . . Allan makes no mistake with his first shot in a Queens jersey

“I should’ve scored another and I’m quite disappointed with that but I’m always harsh on myself when I miss chances.

“I always put pressure on myself to score but if I get chances I’m confident in myself to score them.

“It’s been a great start for me. I’m buzzing to be here, I got a full week of training under my belt.”

The 26-year-old knows he might have to bide his time before breaking into the starting XI after Adam Brooks netted a double and has struck a good partnership up tops with Dickenson.

Allan added: “I’m ready for whenever my chance comes. If I get that then I know I can go out and make a difference.

“Picking who plays is a problem for the manager, it’s not down to me. I’m trying to put myself into a good position and in contention to start games.

“Tuesday night was a massive win for us. We’re getting down to the business end of the season and the three points is huge.

“I was just in the door for the Alloa game and I got a wee taste of it but then for the St Mirren game I was cup tied.

“It was brutal to be in the stand for that one but I thought the team played really well and went toe-to-toe with a Premiership side.

“Now I’ve scored my first goal, I’m hungry for more. I had just hit a bit of form with Clyde before joining here and I’m looking to push on and keep it going here.”

A thrilled Queens boss Peter Murphy was just as delighted as Allan to see him net so quickly.

He added: “It’s a perfect start for Jordan and long may that continue. For him to come on, score and for the fans getting behind him is brilliant.

“Jordan is a good character and wants to achieve a lot. The goal will build confidence.”
