Five small changes can help you age well

MAKING five small everyday changes to your life this September could really help you live well for longer.

That is the message from Dumfries and Galloway Health and Social Care Partnership, as it encourages everyone to get involved in the national ‘Take Five to Age Well’ campaign this month.

Lynne Mann is a lead allied health professional and she said: “Improving your health and wellbeing does not mean having to transform your entire lifestyle. We know that even fairly small actions can make a difference’

“So whether it’s walking up that flight of stairs at work this September instead of taking the lift, drinking more water during the day, or trying a new puzzle, we’d strongly encourage everyone in Dumfries and Galloway to join us in this initiative.”

Developed by the Open University, the Take Five to Age Well campaign is a UK-wide community campaign asking everyone to pledge to make five small daily changes for better ageing.

Lynne added: “Whatever age you are, it’s never too late or too early to take some small actions that can help benefit health and wellbeing. There are simple habits that can help you keep strong, sharp, independent, and feeling good.

“And while this is all focused on the month of September – who knows, there could be some changes which stick, and benefit you across the longer term, and the benefits you experience may inspire you to think of other things you can do.

People can also log their commitment through a website and opt in to receive encouragement and ideas.
