COLLECTIONS are taking place this weekend for an Annan food bank.

Three days of collections began at the Tesco superstore in Scotts Street, with donated food going to Annan CAN Food Bank.
A spokeswoman for Tesco said: “Anything that we get instore is going to Annan CAN, and then Tesco is going to donate a further 20 per cent of what we get to Fairshare.”
There were complaints during last year’s annual national collections by Tesco, when it was noted that donations made in Annan would be given to organisations with no distribution infrastructure within Dumfries and Galloway itself.
Donations up until Saturday can be left at the foyer in Tesco.
The spokeswoman said: “I’ve got colleagues in the foyer at the moment taking donations, and the donations they get are going to Annan CAN.”
