Food firm jobs plan

A JOBS boost could be on the way for Young’s Seafood factory at Port Street, Annan, if a national re-structuring plan goes ahead.

Around 900 jobs are under threat at two North East Scotland factories after the major seafood company confirmed formal consultations are to open with a view to the closure of two sites at Fraserburgh and Grantown on Spey.
If the closures take place then 200 new jobs would be created at the firm’s three sites at Annan, Livingston and Grimsby.
Young’s Seafood said yesterday they were looking to restructure following the loss of a contract.
