WORK is “underway” to launch a food waste recycling service in the region later in the year, the council has said.
It will be rolled-out in Annan, Dalbeattie, Dumfries, Gretna, and Lockerbie in the autumn.
A launch date is yet to be announced, however, Dumfries and Galloway Council has successfully obtained five specialist food collection vehicles – and said that food caddies and liners are “ready to be issued”.
And it urged residents living in towns where the scheme is being introduced to “look out for more info soon”.
