Foot path concerns

One Newbie resident who uses the path everyday to cycle to his work in Annan has labelled it an “absolute disgrace”.

The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I’ve been trying to contact the council for ages to get the path cut, It’s an absolute disgrace.

“All they need to do is cut it back a couple of feet on either side, there are different weeds and nettles sticking out.

“It feels like we have been forgotten about.”

A spokesperson for Dumfries and Galloway Council said: “The Newbie core path 439 forms part of the Annandale Way and is maintained by the council’s environment team and has been cut twice this year, however a scheduled cut was delayed because of a breakdown of a vehicle.

“We will cut it as soon as possible.”
