Former President congratulates Dumfries tot

MESSAGES of support continue to flood in from around the globe for a fundraising Dumfries toddler.

Beatrice George this week received her 300th message from none other than Michelle and Barack Obama.

They wrote to personally congratulate the 21-month-old from Kingholm Quay on her ‘Pretty Pebble Hunt’ which has now raised over £34,000 for NHS Charities Together.

The former US President and First Lady said: “What a wonderful story we have been hearing from your side of the pond.

Congratulations on your brilliant fundraising campaign.”

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also got in touch with the youngster this week to send her best wishes.

Meanwhile, Beatrice’s efforts have been commended by politicians in the Scottish Parliament after Dumfriesshire MSP Oliver Mundell raised a motion congratulating her.

Dad Matthew George, pictured with her, is flabbergasted at the support and said: “It’s been a pretty overwhelming day, as you can imagine.

“Thank you so much to everyone who has continued to support Beatrice with her pebble hunt and, of course, our amazing NHS Front-Line workers and volunteers.”

The family plan to continue collecting pebbles on their daily walks around the area.
