Foundation team welcome windfarm donation

A PROJECT to build a Changing Places toilet in Langholm has been given a substantial boost.

For the Eskdale Foundation’s development has been awarded £10,000 in the latest round of Muirhall Energy’s Community Fund, the largest payout this time.

Margaret Sanderson, from the foundation, said: “Muirhall’s contribution of £10,000 to the Eskdale Foundation is an important step forward in raising funds to install a Changing Places facility in Langholm. Thousands of people with disabilities cannot use ‘standard’ accessible toilets, and the addition of a changing places toilet to our local community will allow both residents, and visitors to the area, a safe, hygienic, and dignified facility useable by those who need it most.”

Other significant beneficiaries include Langholm Producers Market, which received a £2300 contribution towards the cost of a freelance administrator, who will support and promote the market to the wider community; Langholm High School also benefitted from a £1600 grant to help meet the costs of a residential trip to Birmingham and London; and there was £1500 for Langholm Agricultural Show to keep admission costs down for this September’s event.

Lesley McNeil from Muirhall Energy, said they’re delighted to be able to help and she encouraged other local organisations and projects to apply to the next funding panel which will be held later this month.

Muirhall Energy were the developers behind the Crossdykes Wind Farm and have submitted proposals to the Scottish Government for two new developments, the Hopsrig and Loganhead windfarms, situated between Lockerbie and Langholm.
