Frustration grows at park delays

COMMUNITY councillors in Lockerbie are disappointed at the slow progress on their McJerrow Park project.

Although plans have been drawn up for a revamp of the flagship area, they are still waiting on the money being released by the Lockerbie Trust for the work.

But trustees are overdue a meeting to discuss the matter.

There is further frustration after Dumfries and Galloway Council told elected members that the group that they need to hold yet another public consultation on their proposals before anything else can happen.

However, community councillors say this has never been formally communicated to them by the local authority, and they are questioning why the results from previous consultations do not still stand.

Meanwhile, members on Tuesday noted the vandalism of chemical toilets in the park after Gala Day.

They said it highlighted the need for CCTV in the park as soon as possible to avoid similar incidents in the future.
