Funds handed to elderly robbery victim

A GOOD Samaritan has handed over a cheque for more than £1000 to an elderly robbery victim.

Lachlan Thomson, 89, was the victim of a robbery in Dumfries town centre, and the theft sparked Macaulay Moodycliffe to launch a crowd-funding bid to replace the £800 which had been stolen.
And the bid saw people respond in numbers, as within only a matter of days the £800 target was not only met but smashed with a total of £1010.38 having been raised.
When being presented with the cheque, Lachlan said: “This is the most amazing thing that’s happened in my life.
“To say thank you seems inadequate.”
Macaulay said: “Thanks to everybody who donated and supported this.
“Without your help, this couldn’t have happened.”
