NEW furlough figures have revealed that hundreds of people in the region on the Government’s job retention scheme returned to work in June.
The latest statistics show that 600 fewer local employees were being supported by the UK Treasury at the end of June than the previous month, with 1900 still enrolled on the scheme.
Commenting, Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell said: “As restrictions continue to ease, it is very welcome to see more employees being able to return to work.
“The latest figures show that 600 more people in my constituency returned to their jobs over the month of June having been on furlough, and I hope that number will increase over the weeks and months ahead in what is good news for local families and the local economy.”
