Garden centre highlights Marie Curie group

VOLUNTEERS will be on hand at a Dumfries garden centre next week to raise awareness of the role of Marie Curie nursing staff.

Members of Dumfries Marie Curie Fundraising Group, together with helper service manager Susan McRae and community fundraiser George Dickson, who will be present to provide information about the charity to customers as part of the annual Great Daffodil Appeal.
In Dumfries and Galloway last year 500 patients and their families were cared for by Marie Curie nursing staff.
Mr Dickson said: “I would like to thank Gardenwise for their support during the Great Daffodil Appeal.
“This awareness day provides the charity with a platform to engage with customers who may wish to find out more about our services and who may indeed wish to become a volunteer.
“Great Daffodil Appeal is our flagship fundraising appeal and all money raised greatly assists to support our vital Marie Curie Nursing Service.”
Volunteers will be in store from 11 am until 3 pm on Thursday.
