AN OPEN meeting will be arranged after Lochmaben residents shared their frustrations about a garden group in the town.
The topic of Lochmaben Community Gardens was brought up by members of the public at the burgh community council on Monday.
Former member of both groups Jane Purdie aired views from residents who have concerns about mess and unwanted wild flowers.
Mrs Purdie said: “I’ve said my concerns about the Lochmaben Community Gardens. I’ve been approached by people but I explained to them that I have nothing to do with it. I am getting asked to speak on their behalf, this is not my opinion.
“It’s unkept, they don’t want the wild flowers, there’s no dialogue with people in the street, there’s no discussion about the way things are going, there’s still nothing for the children.
“The majority of people at Mossvale don’t want the wild flowers.
“You need to check with the community what the general feeling is.”
Community council chairwoman Kenelma McCrae stated she appreciated there was a lot of emotions about the community gardens. The gardens group started as part of the community council but is now a separate entity.
And members of the gardens group have agreed to set up an open meeting for any members of the public who have concerns and want their views aired.
